Apprenticeship – Could this be the career for you?

Darllenwch y dudalen hon yn Gymraeg

If you’re nearing the end of your time in school or university and are considering what career path to follow, or you’re looking for a change in career and have an interest in digital, you should consider the Welsh Government’s Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Apprenticeship scheme.

Why should I consider an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are a great way of developing skills on the job. As an apprentice, you get the training you need and an opportunity to develop your career while getting paid. For us, it means that we can train people in the roles we need.

What’s different about the DDaT Apprenticeship?

The DDaT Apprenticeship focuses on developing digital, data and technology skills.  During the 18 month apprenticeship, our apprentices move around different teams and carry out different roles within Welsh Government.

Moving around allows our apprentices to experience a variety of roles within the DDaT profession and gives them a chance to work out where their skills lie and which career path they’d like to follow.

I don’t have any IT experience or qualifications – can I still apply?

You don’t need any prior knowledge or experience of working with digital, data and technology, only an interest and enthusiasm about the subject.

Where can I find out more about the DDaT Apprenticeship?
