We are working on a new and improved platform for StatsWales to keep up with technological updates and user needs. As a consequence, and as explained in our first blog, our OData service has not been available since the end of August. We provided an update last month covering our plans for the temporary arrangements until the new StatsWales service is in place in 2025.
This post provides a further update on the availability of data files to temporarily replace OData.
The temporary solution is now live
We had planned to make the temporary solution available from the 1 September onwards. We have, this week, finished testing and it is now live. This will be the way to download the data like that which was available via the OData service, until the new StatsWales service is in place. We have updated the help section of the StatsWales service covering the files that are available through this solution.
Accessing the data
From this point forward when we update a dataset the relevant links will then allow you to download the data.
This does mean that many of our data cubes will not have the files for you to download the data yet. Many of our most used data cubes are updated monthly or quarterly so will be updated soon. For those which are annual or one-off updates we will be refreshing them so you can download the data, where we know users were making significant use of the OData service.
Further help
As a reminder, the rest of the StatsWales site is not affected by this change and you will still be able to find, view and download data from the site in the other usual ways, in addition to the new files which replace OData.
We thank all of our StatsWales Odata users for their patience whilst we made these changes.
