StatsWales is an invaluable resource for researchers, policymakers, and citizens since its inception. With over 280,000 unique users each year, it serves as a comprehensive repository of Welsh statistics and data. Whether you are delving into economic trends, health data, or the shape of our population, StatsWales provides the detailed insights you need to understand various facets of Welsh life.
However, as technology evolves, so too must our services. StatsWales has been operating in its current format since 2012, and in the intervening years, both technological capabilities and digital standards have advanced significantly. To ensure that we continue to offer the best possible service, we’ve been embarking on a journey to modernise StatsWales.
Our approach to this transformation is grounded in the principles of the Digital Service Standard for Wales. By adopting a user-centred approach, we are committed to shaping the service around the needs of those who rely on it most. We’ve been actively engaging with users, conducting tests and research, and gathering feedback to ensure the new StatsWales is intuitive, efficient, and responsive to your needs.
So, what can you expect from the updated StatsWales? We are currently in the testing phase with users, and the rollout of the new service is anticipated to commence this summer. To facilitate a smooth transition, there will be a period of dual running. During this time, both the old and new versions of StatsWales will be available, ensuring that you have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the changes.
We’ll be using this blog to bring you the latest developments and updates, so we encourage you to subscribe to the Digital and Data blog. By subscribing, you will receive timely information and insights directly from our team, ensuring that you are always up-to-date with the latest news.
I am excited about the future of StatsWales and the enhanced service it will provide. Thank you for your continued support and engagement. With your input, we can ensure StatsWales remains a vital tool for understanding life in Wales.
